Stephen has served as Company Secretary and governance adviser for large ASX listed and unlisted companies, government business enterprises, and charitable and industry organisations in a career in governance and finance spanning 30 years.

This experience has developed deep insights into board decision-making, and a robust understanding of the critical information flows necessary for effective and efficient governance.

At Blackhall & Pearl, Stephen specialises in helping organisations design and implement holistic enterprise governance frameworks that optimise board and executive decision-making.

Drawing from his extensive “for purpose” sector experience, Stephen also works with organisations to enhance their governance capabilities, enabling them to attract and maintain critical funding.

In appreciation of his outstanding service to the Governance Institute, Stephen received the President’s Award of the Governance Institute of Australia in 2024.
